  • Name: Austin Gay Men’s Chorus
  • The first rehearsal of the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus (formerly Capital City Men’s Chorus) was held in September 1989.

    Tickets start at just $20 and are available at www.AGMCSings.org. 

    There’s Something About Merry is a festive musical journey that will include holiday standards and chorus favorites as well as new songs from cultures around the world.

    This includes one-time volunteers and our amazing returning volunteers. The AGMC has operated as a non-profit 501(c) (3) arts organization since 1990. As always, there will be several moments of levity and hilarity interspersed with more traditional variations of the classics.  

    “Our holiday concert has become an annual tradition for many in the Austin community and we are looking forward to being part of the city’s celebrations,” said Chorus President Glen Langford.

    On that first night, 16 members met under direction from volunteer artistic director, David Weigle. Showtimes are Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. It extends to our audience and beyond.

The award-winning Austin Gay Men’s Chorus (AGMC) is the longest, continually running men’s chorus in central Texas.

We also need a larger profile in Austin and nationally.

Ready to sing? and Sunday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m. Participation by singing as well as non-singing membership is encouraged!

The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus was founded in 1989 by sixteen volunteer members.

To do this, we need to reach larger audiences, pay our musicians better, and create higher production values. The set list will include nods to Mary, marry and merry. Or both?

Austin Gay Men’s Chorus continues to grow in both the number of singing and non-singing members that make up and run our organization, and that also includes our extended family of fabulous community volunteers that work along side us during our performances and community events.

AN AGMC HOLIDAY CONCERT

The Austin Gay Men’s Chorus will kick off Central Texas’ holiday season with its upcoming annual winter show. There’s Something About Merry will be held at First Austin, 901 Trinity St.

in Downtown Austin. The majority of financial support for the group comes from the continuing generosity of individuals and businesses in the Austin area community.

The chorus’s diversity was evident from the first moments with both professional singers and beginners, with a variety of backgrounds and walks of life represented.
