Dallas Bears Texas Bear Round-Up (TBRU) – There are a lot of bears in Texas, and they gather in March for one of the largest bear events in the country. The museum also offers a panoramic view of Dealey Plaza, giving visitors a poignant connection to that fateful day in 1963. Located in the Gayborhood, Oak Lawn, Sue Ellen's has been a queer staple for years amongst the lesbian, non-binary and trans community in Dallas, offering a low-key yet vibrant vibe where you can always find a welcoming crowd.

Many rooms also offer views of the Dallas skyline. Located in the heart of Dallas' Gayborhood, Oak Lawn, at Round-Up Saloon you can expect to two-step to country classics, or hit the dance floor for the latest Top 40 bangers with a fun gay crowd. Another highlight is the Nasher Sculpture Center, which has a tranquil outdoor sculpture garden.

The whimsical piece of public art was created by artist Tony Tasset and is situated in a private garden at the Joule Hotel. Maybe the gayborhood just isn’t their “scene.” Try Double Wide on the east end of Deep Ellum, where the fantastic “Pride at Double Wide” is a great place to meet some alt-queers. The area is home to several popular gay bars, such as JR’s Bar & Grill, which features a magnificent outdoor patio, and The Mining Company, where people can hang out and have fun.

In recent years, the­ Bishop Arts District has also become a gay-friendly are­a known for its unique stores, eaterie­s, and arts scene. 

Deep Elum has also become a warm and welcoming area for LGBTQ individuals in Dallas, TX, thanks to recent efforts by the Dallas City Council and Dallas Police Department to improve safety in the area.

Today, the city’s Pride celebrations continue to grow in size and inclusivity, reflecting the community’s ongoing resilience and progress.
