Gay icon and music legend Janet Jackson has been honoured with the Icon Award at the American Music Awards 2025, and marked the occasion with her first live TV performance in seven years.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 12, 2025.

Selection Criteria

Each year, 31 LGBT Icons, living or dead, are selected for achievements in their field of endeavor, for their status as a national hero, or for their significant contribution to LGBT civil rights.

This year, the star is performing a Las Vegas residency in the Resorts World Theatre, with dates confirmed until late September. Please note that the 31 Icons for 2025 will be featured one each day, beginning October 1. The Village People

The Portuguese winger faced stiff competition from celebrities such as Kylie Minogue, Elton John and David Beckham.

Kylie could only manage a second-place finish, while Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli predictably made the top five.

A spokesman for 'gaygolddiggers' said, “Ronaldo’s ripped body, slicked-back hair, shiny white teeth and jewellery swung the votes his way.

He looks like any gay man or woman’s dream. My story, my family’s story, it’s truly an American story. Because of you and God, I’m standing right here.

“I want to thank the AMAs for this honour, which I am humbly grateful for, and last but not least, I want to say, keep God in every part of your life because that’s where he wants to be.
