The commonality that binds us is the love of motorcycling and the enjoyment that comes from touring some of the best roads for motorcycling in Canada and the USA—all in a spirit of friendship and safety.

From May through October, we host a run and campout weekend monthly, as well as day rides and socials (meet and greets) in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver BC.

Whether you prefer a short day ride, a 2-3 day ride and campout, or an extended trip with a small group, you will find an event to fit your riding style and ability. But the Mattachine Society had a Communist “cell structure”and drew the spying interest of J. Edgar Hoover who was focused on getting, founder, Harry Hay. Plus Senator Joe McCarthy’s hunt for “un-American activities and communism, along with internal fighting caused the Mattachine to shut down by 1953.

It was not an easy time in America for gay men to congregate with fellow gay men. Registration is required for the weekend rides and campouts, and you can find the schedule on our website's "Runs & Events" section.

On behalf of the Border Riders Motorcycle Club, we thank you for your interest and invite you to ride with us and to explore the club and the great area we are lucky enough to call home.

Join us for a unique and unforgettable journey, where you can meet like-minded people and discover the beauty of the Pacific Northwest on two wheels.

Homosexuals were deemed as deviants and undesirables in society. All motorcycles must be capable of freeway speeds and be in good running condition.

We welcome all legally licensed and insured motorcyclists who wish to participate in our events, regardless of their riding experience or the make and model of their motorcycle.

Who are the Border Riders?

Founded in 1969, the Border Riders Motorcycle Club is one of the oldest and largest gay motorcycle clubs in North America.

We are proud that in 1954 our first member of color, Raoul Vasquez, designed the club logo that we still use today. We’re so glad you’re here ❤️

Our journey into motorcycling wasn’t the typical route, but we fell in love with traveling on two-wheels and haven’t looked back since!

WILD WHEELS WEEKEND

We fell in love with riding, but not so much with the culture that surrounds most motorcycle groups and events.

We provide social and educational opportunities for members and other gay men interested in recreational motorcycle touring.

The Satyrs Motorcycle Club of Los Angeles

Who We Are...

The Satyrs Motorcycle Club of Los Angeles is the oldest running gay men’s motorcycle club and organization in the world.

So we created our own space.

Welcome to our queer focused and inclusive club for two-wheeled enthusiasts. Our diverse membership hails mostly from Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia and is composed of seasoned as well as novice riders from all walks of life and professions.

Our goal is to promote motorcycle safety and education, and we strive to ensure that all of our rides and events are conducted on safe and legal machinery, following all applicable laws and regulations.

Our members are committed to respect and inclusion. Formed in 1954 during the height of the McCarthy era, seven men came together, bonded by the love of the motorcycle to form a club.

The Satyrs was not the first gay & lesbian organization, that was the Mattachine Society formed in 1950.
